Super Cute
I hate admitting that Kira is cute. I'm her mom and obviously biased, and I sometimes think it's tacky when mothers gush about their daughters. So I try my hardest to keep it to a minimum. This morning Kira did something so cute, I just can't contain myself.
I was at the kitchen counter reading some emails and drinking my coffee, and she was at the kitchen table eating her breakfast. Suddenly, she points to the table and says, "Mommy, put-ta". I had no idea what she meant. My first guess is that she wanted me to "put" something on the table, but what, I don't know. I repeated what she said because when she knows that I'm misunderstanding, she'll adjust her pronunciation. "What's put-ta?" She looks away for a few minutes and I go back to emailing. She tries again, "Mommy, put-ta, peeeaaaas" (She pronounces "please" as "peas".) I could see she earnestly wanted something so I sat down next to her and looked straight into her eyes. "Put-ta? What's put-ta". She's looking at me, and suddenly I had an epiphany. "OH, do you mean COMPUTER?" Her face LIT UP like a firework. "YEAH!" she exclaims! haha. So, she wanted me to put my laptop on the kitchen table so she could watch "Elmo's Song" on youtube.
Then, my MIL came over to take Kira to a class. She's taking "Messy Play" at Wayland Town Hall. It was $85 for 10 weeks. Once a week she gets to play with sand and water. And each week they do something new, like play dough, or painting, or chalk, etc etc. The point is to let them get messy. I made a smock for her out of one of Trevor's old T-shirts, but it wasn't impervious to water, so I went and bought her a proper smock from Toys R Us. Anyways, my MIL shows up and I run up to Kira's room to get a hoodie. While I was gone, Trevor's mom was teasing her with her scarf. The end of her scarf had fringe, and she waved it in Kira's face trying to tickle her. The first time Kira just turned her head. Trevor's mom persisted and did it a second time and Kira quietly said "Stop it!". When I got downstairs, she told me what happened and we both laughed because neither of us would expect her to say that and with such a serious tone!
It's tough being a stay at home mom sometimes. I know people must scoff when I say that. How hard can it be? It's a long story and I need to choose my words carefully for most people to understand. But, my point is, despite the difficulties, it's really worth it when the baby smiles and laughs. I've heard this before and it sounds cliche, but I now know that it's true.
