Boring Posts

Hi All - Sorry my posts have been so boring...just lists of things to do and things to remember. I guess it's all part of my nesting phase. I have a couple recent videos of Kira, so I'll try and post them at some point. Actually, what I should be doing is documenting all the little moments we have with just Kira and no other baby. In a few months, we will have forgotten it all. And it has been especially difficult for me to appreciate the time because all I can think about is what will happen when the baby comes. Let me see if I can jot down a couple...

One daily "moment" I can think of that I always just soak in is the morning wake-up. Trevor has been a total champ in dealing with Kira in the morning. (I relinquished this job a while ago once I realized getting up too fast caused me to feel nauseated.) He takes her to the bathroom, puts a sweater on her and leads her to our bedroom. Once here, Kira plays with a few toys while Trevor washes up and I continue dozing. Sometimes Kira is cranky in the morning, but 9 times out of 10, she's pretty chipper. She talks; she talks to herself, to Trevor, to me, and to Logan. She asks me to wake up, she tells Trevor she wants milk, she asks to brush her teeth. She giggles at Logan. She plays make-believe with her doll. She finds random things and asks what they are, or to open them, or to do something or other. For example, she found a nail file and asked what to do with it. She finds my nail polish and stacks them. She finds tubes of lotion/cream and asks to open it and then she smears cream on her hands and face. Surprisingly, she is well behaved until one of us (usually Trevor) is all washed up and dressed and ready to head downstairs for breakfast. I appreciate the little conversations and play activities I hear while waking up for a new day!

Trevor has told me that the most intimate moments he has had with Kira have taken place while she is on the toilet. HAHA. He says that they have interesting conversations that they don't really have any other time. I'll let him tell the stories.

Trevor has also mentioned that at night, after bathtime, Kira gets silly. She tries to be funny and laughs at herself. For example, you ask her a question, and she answers with a made up word, like "baaboe". And then, whatever you say to her, she replies, "baaboe!" Or if they are going through the picture book, she will say everything is a "camel". And she laughs at herself.

I'm glad I took some time to write a couple happy thoughts down. The only reason why I have time to write this right now is because Trevor's parents just took Kira to a class. I'm at their house with nothing to do. I arrived here in a really bad mood because I was frazzled getting Kira into the car in time so that they could make the 4:15 class. She woke up from a long nap totally out of sorts and in a foul mood. She cried the whole time from the moment she woke up until I got her into the car (about 30 mins). She was uncooperative; I couldn't even get her to go to the bathroom before we left. I barely could get her out of her pajamas, and in the process of getting her changed, she kicked my belly. Not the greatest feeling, but now that the storm is over, I feel a little better.
