Trying
Ok, it is really hard taking care of two little kids. There is no time to address top priorities, such as going to the dentist, getting a much-needed haircut, or changing the oil in my car, let alone blogging. And, in a previous entry I thought I would blog every day, but that was unrealistic, and then I would just be blogging to blog. The top reason why I take time to write down stories is so that we can come back to them and remember things we otherwise would not remember. So, I'll just try to blog when there are good stories.
I have a few stories about Renee. Poor girl doesn't have many memories documented here. No better time than the present.
Singing - Very recently, I've heard Renee try to sing! While driving in the car, I will put on the kids music when either child starts getting cranky. And, today, Renee was trying to sing along! It was pretty cute.
Other things that Renee does or has been doing for a while:
- requesting to talk on the phone, trying to talk on the phone, pretending to talk on the phone
- pretending to cook and eat and feed dolly
- feeding herself
- playing independently
- watching tv (more interactively than Kira ever did [Kira was more of a passive tv watcher])
- fighting over objects with Kira (this is an oldie, but it is still going very strong)
- tells me when she has dirtied her diaper; I'll ask her, do you want to change your diaper, and she will give me a quick "yea" and start heading towards the nursery. It's more like "nyea". It's really cute.
Renee can also say a few words:
- nai nai (milk)
- Naa Naa (auntie Nat)
- Yee Yee (auntie Pat)
- Bak Bak (uncle Marc, and also uncle Brandon)
- Poh Poh (grandma, maternal)
- Ma Ma (mommy, or grandma, paternal)
- Yeh Yeh (grandpa, paternal)
- bao bao (bread)
- ish ish (water, although that's not how you pronounce it at all [it's sooi sooi])
- ish ish (fish)
- deederr (sticker)
- woah woah (doggie)
- mum mum (feed me)
- aaahhh che (fake sneeze)
- aaahhh che (fake sneeze)
She can point to members of the family. I didn't mention Gung Gung above because she can't say it, but if you ask her where is Gung Gung, she immediately points to my dad. (And, that goes for Kew Kew too.) She even knows extended family like Yee Poh.
Next week, Renee will be starting some classes. I'm very excited for her. On Wednesdays, she will go to a music class in Wellesley with Poh Poh. Wellesley is sort of in between where I live and where Poh Poh lives, so we'll meet there in the morning, and I will head back home. Trevor used to play badminton in Wellesley and he said I can get there in 12 minutes. I don't think he realizes that I don't drive an M. On Thursdays I will be attending a "Jump, Tumble, Play" class at Wayland Recreation with Renee. Actually, if Mah Mah wants to take Renee on Thursday, she can do that. But we haven't discussed it. On Friday we have another Wayland Recreation class called Messy Play. Kira took it and basically it's 15 minutes of playing with sand and water and 30 minutes of arts and crafts, or bubbles, or something like that (different each week).
Kira will be starting ballet classes next week on Thursdays. She will be going to the same program she tried out for a week over the summer. And, she will have the same teacher. Besides that, Kira now goes to school 5 days per week, a step up from last year when she attended 3 days per week. It's going so so well. She never argues about going to school, she's very chipper in the morning, and she eats her breakfast! The only hurdle we have to get over in the morning is getting dressed because she insists on choosing her own outfit and I insist on correcting her when the pieces don't match. We're both stubborn and there isn't a clear winner at this point.
I'm going to try and do quick and dirty entries whenever something memorable happens; especially funny conversations. Those are so priceless and very easy to forget.
