Kira's 2-Month Appointment
First of all, here are the new measurements:
Height: 23 inches (76th percentile)
Weight: 11 lbs 9 oz (72nd percentile)
Head Circumference: x cm (35th percentile) - I forget this measurement, I will update later
Apparently, head is still on the small side.
In addition to getting measured up, Kira also received three shots. I knew she was going to get shots at her 2-month appointment. All babies get their shots at 2 months. My boss has a 6-month old baby girl, and she told me that when her baby got her shots, she did not respond to the first shot, but by the second injection, she was crying. My co-worker had a similar story about her baby (a 4-month old boy). She said that he did not respond right away but that a few seconds after the first shot, he was crying. For days I wondered how Kira would react. Kira was much more decisive compared with the two other babies. The second the needle hit her skin, she was screaming bloody murder. Full blown, level-10 crying! She had no problem reacting seriously to the shots!
Seeing that she was so upset, the doctor recommended that I nurse her just to calm her down. So, she fed for about 5 minutes. She didn't wake up after that for 3.5 hours. I wonder if the shots made her sleepy, or if she was just trying to block out the pain. For the rest of the day I expected her to be cranky, but overall she was fine. I don't think she was experiencing a lot of pain. I'm glad it was a neutral experience for the both of us. Well, somewhat neutral...minus Kira screaming at the top of her lungs. But that's par for the course for Kira.
