Logan the smartie pants
Since Kira was born, I haven't spent much alone time with Logan. I discovered early on that juggling Kira and Logan on my own is too much for me to handle. It's not that Logan requires a lot of hands on caretaking, unlike Kira. But left to his own devices, Logan will bark at the neighbors, grab things off the countertop, and put his paws up on the table. Maybe it's partially my fault too because I get obsessive about correcting him. I never let him get a way with anything. And so, I end up multitasking with doing Kira things and watching Logan like a hawk and shouting him whenever he does something naughty. By early- to mid-afternoon, I'm exhausted by it all. So Trevor and I have worked out a schedule so that I'm not usually alone with Logan and Kira. On Mondays and Wednesdays, my mom is at my house. She can watch Kira while I do other things and watch/correct Logan. On Tuesdays, Logan goes to doggie day care. It's great because he comes home pooped. On Thursdays, I go to Trevor's mom's house for the day. She plays with Kira while I take a rest. Furthermore, Trevor's parents house is the perfect place for Logan to unwind. They have a nice big yard and a sunroom where he can pretty much do whatever he wants. We leave him there overnight on Thursdays so he's also there on Fridays. After work on Fridays, Trevor will either pick up Logan and bring him back home, or we'll have dinner first and go get Logan together with Kira.
Slowly, as Kira can stand to be by herself for a few minutes, I've had more alone time with Logan and the baby. Sometimes Trevor's parents are not home, so I do Thursdays as late as I can before asking my brother in law for help. Sometimes, my mom has doctors appointments on her days off (Mon/Wed), and she isn't able to come to my house until mid-afternoon. So, there have been a few occasions where Logan has been with me and Kira. On these days, I try to put Kira to sleep as much as possible. When she needs a major diaper change, or a bath, or to have mum mum (breastfeeding), I'll put Logan in his crate so he can enjoy a little nap. I've found that Logan will ask to go to the bathroom about two times over the course of the morning and early/mid afternoon.
Today was one of those days when I was home with Kira and Logan. My mom had to run errands and did not come over until about 3:30. I expected Logan to want to go to the bathroom at least twice...but he didn't ask even once to go outside today. Wanna know why? It's pouring rain out today. I guess faced with getting wet, he can hold it!
