California Weddings

During the last weekend of May, Trevor and I attended two weddings in California.  We were originally going to bring Kira along but eventually decided that it would be too crazy to bring a toddler to California just for the weekend.  Furthermore, babies are not always welcome guests to weddings, and babies don't enjoy weddings anyways.  So we left her at home with Trevor's parents.  Both grandma and grandpa stayed a few nights at our home where Kira is most comfortable.

The first wedding we attended was on Hermosa Beach in LA.  It was the first beach wedding for me, and it was absolutely lovely.  The bride is one of my best friends and I talked with her a lot about wedding planning.  Seeing everything come together was so nice!  And best of all, the bride was relaxed which added to her beauty that day!  It was definitely the sweetest wedding I've ever attended.

The second wedding was the very next day in San Jose!  Trevor and I rented a car and drove for 6 hours to get there.  The drive was not so bad; the worst thing was that the car seat was not comfortable, making us switch drivers more frequently.  Despite not traveling the scenic route, we saw many interesting things along the way.  First, leaving LA, we drove through a very mountainous area.  The mountains were stunning.  Then we drove through A LOT of farmland, some areas with interesting odors!  During the ride, we suddenly smelled onions!  Then later on we smelled blueberries.  At one point I smelled something strange, like Kira's diaper!  Turns out after driving 5 miles, we encountered a HUGE cattle farm.  There must have been THOUSANDS of cows; more cows that I have ever ever ever seen.  As we got closer to the halfway point, we saw windmills!  They were pretty neat.

The wedding in San Jose was held at a country club on top of a tall hill.  The views were breathtaking.  This wedding was one of the top two for most gorgeous surroundings, (the other being Trevor's cousin's wedding in Cape Town).  Trevor is friends with the groom, and so I did not know the bride very well.  Based on her selection of dresses I'm assuming she is quite the fashionista.  It was a very eye-catching wedding.

Trevor and I had a great time and we savored our freedom without Kira.  We missed her, but we tried our best to focus on our independence.
