Food Diary

These posts must be getting pretty boring!  Oh well, not very many people read this blog anyways.

Breakfast:
 - 4 oz milk
 - buttered toast
 - 4 large strawberries

Lunch
 - Chicken poridge with peas

Dinner
 - Linguini in butter
 - Scrambled egg yolk
 - Steamed broccoli
 - Avocados

Dessert:
 - Apples

Today was the first time I gave Kira apples.  I think many people would find that shocking and wonder why I hadn't given her apples sooner.  The only reason why I have not given Kira apples is because I wasn't confident that she could chew them!  Even today I sliced them paper thin so that she wouldn't swallow a big chunk.  She liked the apples.

I usually give Kira a snack in the middle of the day, but these past few days I have not, as you may have noticed reading the food diaries.  Lately she has been waking up very early in the morning.  By the time 11 am rolls around, she's very very sleepy.  She will fall asleep in a chair if I let her.  A late morning nap means she will need another late afternoon nap if she wants to make it through dinner!  The past few days, she has fallen asleep at 4 pm, which is when I would normally give her a snack.  Besides the timing of her naps, sometimes our activities get in the way of snacking, too.  Today I went to the market later than I had hoped because it took me forever to put together a grocery list.  Trevor and I could not decide for the life of us what to have for dinner!  So, just as I left the house, I had an afterthought that I should have also packed a snack for Kira.  But it was too late because I had already left the house, and I wouldn't know what to give her anyway.  I usually give her some yogurt, or some sliced strawberries.  The strawberries she can eat in the car if she's careful, but there is no way she can eat the yogurt.  So, I think I need to keep a log of portable snack ideas for future reference.  Actually, the only snack I have ever given her in the car are sliced strawberries.  I'm thinking now that cheese cubes would also work.  We usually buy cheese in slices, which makes it difficult for her to grab.  I think I need to start buying cheese in blocks so that I can cut them into cubes.  I'm sure as she gets older I can add more to the portable snacks list.

I enjoy reading your blog! :)

Maybe you could just buy cheese sticks/string cheese and cut them up into little blocks? Also maybe raisins, goldfish crackers, cracker sandwiches with peanut butter in between? I've also heard that you can freeze gogurts (yogurts in a tube) and they make a popsicle-like things... I'm not exactly sure how that one might work in a car tho...

(it's jen logan btw lol)

Haha hi vickie :) Marc gave me the url for your blog b/c I asked him where I could find Kira pictures! (This was before I was your pE friend).

As for the flaxseed bit, my mother is a health-nut.. but it actually has a very mild taste, a bit like hazelnut.. although it IS a natural laxative if you eat too much (just a thought on the Kira-front).

And no secret baby here... the only 'babies' I have atm are my shoes/purses lol
