Can't sleep so I'll post
This mornings episode:
When Renee was born, Kira regressed a bit when it came to sleeping. This includes naps during the afternoon as well as going to bed for night. The lack of attention, the change in family dynamics, and the fact that we hung out at my parents' house past her bed time on a regular basis all played a part in the regression.
When its time for her to go to bed at night she would do one or more of the following:
Well, I woke up at 4am to the sound of Kira's crying. She used to dream in her sleep so I jumped out of bed, opened the door, and listened for a minute. It was an intense cry so as I headed to her room, Kira opened her door at the same time. I asked her what happened and she said she fell off her bed. I was still have asleep having woken up an hour before to help Vickie for something (I don't recall what) but I was awake enough to sit Kira down on her couch and calm her down. She was in the middle of a crying fit but I told her that her bed was "naughty" and that it shouldn't have let her fall off.
Shortly after I sat her down she quickly regained her composure and calmed down. I think she was embarrassed because she immediately changed the subject and began talking about cooking the meat in her play kitchen. She was wide awake at this point and I told her she needed to climb back in to bed to go back to sleep. She said she was scared, and I don't remember her exact wording but she told me to put pillows on each side of the bed so she doesn't fall again. I put down the pillows and we both went to bed.
I went back to bed but could not fall asleep. Half an hour after she first woke up she came busting in to our room again. I walked her back to her bed and she went back to sleep. By 5am an hour after she first woke up I still could not sleep so as I was heading downstairs, Kira comes out of her room asking for water and to go to the bathroom. These are some of her typical excuses so put her on the toilet, got her water and told her to go to bed, otherwise I'll put her in her old crib. Its about 6am now and she's still sleeping but she'll probably be waking up in about an hour.

When its time for her to go to bed at night she would do one or more of the following:
- Put on a show by fake crying
- Avoid the situation and ignore me
- Make numerous excuses to stall
- Refuse to close her eyes
- Everyone's schedules have started stabilizing
- She is a bit older
- My night time routine has been more consistent (2 books, a hug, a kiss, and lights out)
I found that being more nurturing puts her in a better mood before climbing in to bed
