Easiest and hardest parts of the day

Without kids..easiest is bed time because sleep feels so good. Hardest - is dragging myself out of bed in the mornings.
With Renee kids it seems to be the exact opposite.

As far as the mornings go, this has always been the smoothest part of the day with kids. Mornings generally start around the same time, and kids that have had enough sleep are full of energy, in great spirits, and ready to play. The usual morning routine starts with Kira waking up between 7 and 7:30am, opening her door, running down the hall, and then coming in to our room. There was a time, probably before Renee was around, when I would be able to wake up and get ready for work before Kira busted in to our bedroom. Since Renee has been around, with the lack of sleep, this has not been possible so Kira either plays for a while in our room or climbs in to bed with us and naps or entertains herself until she gets bored.

The routine is simple and consistent, which helps make things flow since we all know what we're doing. The parents get dressed, the kids get dressed, we all go down, we all have breakfast, and then hang out. Renee usually wakes up around 8am, has some milk, hangs out for a little bit, and then goes back to sleep around 9 or 9:30am and stays down till late morning around 11:00am. Dealing with just one child is soooo much easier than 2, which is what makes morning so much easier.

Dinner has been tough the last few weeks because Renee seems to have outgrown her dinner time power nap. Renee usually has an early afternoon nap from 2-3:30pm. By the time dinner arrives, she'll have been up for more than a few hours. Since she has been skipping the power naps she is generally unwilling to sleep between 6:30-7:30pm but also very cranky. Dealing with her during this time while trying to prepare and eat dinner is not an easy task.

Once 7:30 comes around, every other day we abort dinner to bath her, give her milk, then put her to sleep. On the days we don't bath her its tough to fill that dead time between 6:30 and 7:30. Now that I'm thinking about it, it might be worth just bathing her to help get thru that time. Though it is tough that she no longer naps, it does help push her bedtime to 8pm which aligns perfectly with Kira's bedtime too. Once we've gotten both down around that time and both are asleep for atleast 30 minutes, we know we've crossed the finish line for the day!
