New Renee

In four days, Renee will be 10 months old. Then it will be two more months (8 weeks) until her first birthday. That is the fastest year I have ever experienced! I'm astounded.

Anyways, seeing that time has just been flying by, I figured I should jot down some of the things Renee is doing right now.

She can crawl. Marc caught it on video. She's not very proficient. She uses her elbows to heave herself forward. She doesn't really elevate herself with her hands, and she doesn't coordinate her legs to help with movement. She is getting better day by day.

We lowered her crib mattress. Yesterday while Trevor was at work, I was freaking out every few hours because after putting Renee down for a nap, upon her waking, I would find her peeking over with both hands gripping the edge. If she would just pull a little more getting her shoulders up and look over the edge to the ground, the sheer weight of her head would just take her down. Scary! So, yesterday, while I bathed each kid and had Marc babysit the other, Trevor lowered the crib mattress. It's not an easy task. It requires completely disassembling the thing. It took almost an hour to finish.

Renee bops her head when she hears music. Also caught on video by Yee Bak.

Kira and Renee have been fighting. Usually it's because Renee wants to touch Kira and Kira does not want to be touched. So, there is grabbing and shoving and grunting and screaming involved. Occasionally it's a fight over a toy which ends up with one kid crying. I try not to get involved unless it's violent.

Renee can run in her walker. She runs through the kitchen almost as fast as Kira does!

Renee can make sounds that are words, but she doesn't use the consistently with the actual object. For example, she can say nai nai (milk), but only half the time will she say it when she sees her bottle. She can say da da, but will sometimes call me or Marc "da da". She can say poh poh (maternal grandmother), yeh yeh (paternal grandfather), dee dee (big sister), mum mum (food - that's not chinese).

Fake crying - Renee will let out a big scream/cry when I put her down for a nap or at bedtime. Then after about 2 seconds, she gives up and falls asleep. This is different from before when she would just fall asleep. (In the putting down aspect of babies, Renee is a godsend.)
