Kira Conversations
Janey and I caught up last night on the phone, and I was telling her about some of the interesting conversations Kira and I have had lately. She reminded me that I should document them on the blog! She's right because these conversations are pretty funny. It's surprising to find out how a 3-year-old mind works =)
Setting: we're reading the story of Cinderella and Kira is admiring the illustrations.
K: Cinderella looks like a bride. Can I have a dress like hers?
V: When you are a bride, yes, you can have a dress like hers.
K: But, when can I be a bride?
V: When you are a big girl, like Nat-Nat.
K: Who will I marry?
V: You will meet a boy and if he's good to you, you can marry him.
K: (after some thought) Can I marry Daddy?
V: No, Daddy is married to me, you can't marry him.
K: I need a boy.
V: Yes, don't worry, you'll meet him someday when you're a big girl.
K: When I was in Dai Bak's wedding I walked with a boy. But...did I marry him???
V: No, you didn't marry the boy. You were the flower girl. You only get married when you're the bride...not the flower girl.
K: Oh (with relief)
Setting: after picking Kira up from ballet class, I stopped by the post office, hopped out of the car and popped a letter into the mailbox.
K: What was that, Mommy?
V: It was a letter.
K: For who, Mommy?
V: For Lena and her Mommy and Daddy.
K: Why did you send them a letter, Mommy?
V: It was a card.
K: A card for what, Mommy?
V: It was a card that said, we hope you feel better, and if they need hugs, they can have hugs from us. I sent it to them because Lena's Yeh Yeh is gone.
K: Where did he go?
V: Well..........he was very very old and when you get very old, you need to take a nice long rest.
K: How long, Mommy?
V: Very long. He won't wake up. He's gone.
K: But Mommy, are you old???
V: No, I'm not that old, just a little old.
K: But Mommy, if he takes a really long rest, can he come back again?
V: No, Kira. It's his last rest. He won't come back.
K: Oh. I want to call Lena.
V: Maybe another day, because Lena will be very sad since her Yeh Yeh is gone and if she talks about it, it might make her sad.
K: Ok, remind me to call her another day.
