Bitter Sweet...
Saturday was actually sweet...and then bitter :P
I spent about an hour in the morning washing all 8 of my wheels. I started off cleaning my 4 winter wheels so that they'll be ready to go once winter arrives at the end of this year.
I then proceeded to clean off the 4 summer wheels currently on my car. I have a german car with 4 large disc brakes, 1 on each wheel. The advantage of having these 4 large brakes is that my car can stop pretty darn quickly, but the disadvantage is that they produce a black dust called brake dust.
The brake dust is very black and turns my wheels from a bright shiny metal color to a dark dull finish. If you wait too long to clean off the brake dust, the heat emitted from the brakes tends to melt the brake dust making it difficult - if not impossible to get off.
So I cleaned my 4 wheels as well as my car and took a moment to enjoy the clean wheels before heading out to the Atrium mall for Pho Pasteur. I am always cautious driving around in that parking lot because the sidewalk pavement is very high. When I got into the lot my usual parking space was taken so I decided to take the next available spot. In hind site this was probably not the best decision...
Due to the following 4 reasons shown in the picture above I ended up slightly scuffing my left rear wheel. It really is a small scuff and will probably go unnoticed by most but its unfortunate that in my 10 years of driving that this is the first time I've ever scratched a wheel.
1) My usual spot in lower level B of the atrium mall was taken
2) The angle of parking spot actually required more than a 90 degree turn
3) Since the SUV parked was very close to the spot I was moving into I decided to park closer to the left side
4) The sidewalk pavement had a strange peninsula that I'm not sure I really noticed
Oh well...no use crying over spilled milk - I'll just have to make sure I don't ever do that again. The scratch is really just a slight surface scratch. If I was to the right by a centimeter contact wouldn't have been made...if I was to the left by a centimeter it could really have been a whole lot worse.
It took most of dinner at Pho for me to come to terms with what happened but once I did I was able to enjoy the rest of the night. We took Kira to a gathering where we played Cranium and watched the Celtics win their first away game of the post-season to take the easter conference division series lead, 2-1.
