Renee Update

Today I'm at home with Renee on my own. Kira is with Trevor's mom. It's been sort of a rough day for us because Renee is not sleeping well. The reason for this could be a variety of things from itchy gums, gassy belly, to irritated skin. Last Tuesday, Renee developed a rash. Usually that's nothing to write about, but this rash was peculiar in that it formed circles on her face. By the time Friday rolled around, I was concerned enough to take her to the doctor. He said that the rash was most likely 1 of 2 things: eczema, or tinea. If it were eczema, then it would reduce in redness with OTC hydrocortisone, but would not completely disappear for another couple weeks. If it were tinea, then it would actually get worse with the hydrocortisone. So, his recommendation was to apply the hydrocortisone over the weekend and reassess on Sunday. Well, the circles actually got bigger, so it was probably tinea. But if it weren't tinea, then he said it could be a whole ...

H&M Accessories

Wow, I'm totally in love with these accessories from H&M. Someone tell me they look bad because I'm going to by every single one! And don't even get me started with the kids stuff.

Recently

For a couple weeks now, Kira has been putting her shoes on by herself! It's very cool from a parents' perspective because I don't need to sit her down and keep her still. The only downside is that she ends up touching the bottom of her shoes and I need to remember to sanitize her hands if she is going to play with toys or eat something. But sometimes, we just put on shoes to go outside and play, and in those cases, I don't need to worry about sanitizing. Renee laughs and squeals at almost anything. This morning, she was laughing and squealing at the spoon sitting in Trevor's coffee cup. On Friday at Panera, she was laughing at a group of people sitting at the next table. Almost every time you make eye contact with her, she was laugh and squeal. Kira never laughed at so many things, but Kira had fits of laughter that would last up to 10 minutes. Renee doesn't laugh like that. Renee has also been experimenting with her voice. She has learned how to scream...

Giant Baby

I met up with a friend who I haven seen in over 10 years! Se has a 6-month old baby boy. He's Chinese from his mother and Caucasian from his father. And, Renee is the same size as he! I have a giant baby.

New Things

Kira has recently learned how to use scissors. Thanks to her great aunt Buckie, she has left-handed snippies. Give her a catalog, and she will shred it into tiny tiny pieces! At this point, the vacuum cleaner just stays out for the messes she is constantly creating. I should give her information-sensitive mail to play with. Renee is getting better and better and controlling her hands. She often stares at them and plays with them. And she's starting to grab things too. Renee also stands very nicely when you support her by the armpits. She has really strong legs. If you lean her forward, she will even make stepping motions, one foot in front of the other. Trevor loves this despite my telling him that it's a reflex. We successfully weeded the front walk way! It was such an embarrassment how weedy it became...nevermind the rest of the garden. Oh well, baby steps.
